Learning is the process through which ignorance is replaced with understanding. Before skiing, I had no idea what it entailed. I substitute teacher in 5th grade however, had instructed me on some basic techniques, that help me paint a mental picture of skiing. When I hit the slopes for the first time 5-6 years later, I still remembered my "lesson" from the sub. That, plus some reasonable balance I had acquired through years of experience on roller blades, helped me demonstrate that which I was ignorant of before: that I could in fact ski.
The substitute taught me something I remembered years later, because he taught some movements I was already familiar with, simply swaying from side to side, and incorporated it with something new: the art of skiing.

I read your lesson plan BEFORE I read your blog. I really enjoyed how you took something that not many people know how to do (I think I have been on ski's twice in my life) and likened it to something we can find in the scriptures and THEN use properly for application. You make sense. I hope I teach that clearly. Way to go Bro. R!

I just learned to ski last year but I guess I didn't have any prior knowledge to connect it to since I never rollerbladed or did anything like that. I rather learned by doing. And also Doug Holton helped me with the basic techniques.
